Today's Rant.....Cars...Box Cars

Yes, here we have had 90 odd years to develop sleek aerodynamic cars that reduce fuel consumption by moving efficiently through the air and what is the "in" car now? The box car. Whether it is the flattish Hummer box, or the upright Mercedes or Mitsubishi box, or the flat out weird Honda box (Element), they are all clearly thumbing their noses at the idea of reducing the amount of fuel to move them forward. They say "wind drag is my friend". This goes beyond the ridiculous notion of having a 4-wheel drive for city driving, I mean, keerist, why not just hang an anchor off the back. We (the collective we) deserve to pay the $2.55 a gallon for gas that I paid this weekend if this fad doesn't die quickly. Hell, didn't we have boxes on wheels back in the 20s and 30s? Is the automobile design world that bereft of talent that they had to go back to boxes on wheels?
