We would do a few tasks ...
(a) establish financial control (generally allowed due to joint signature on bank a/c) and stablize the situation in the project so that the bleeding of assets stops, incurring of liabilities ceases
(b) rev up pressure on the opposition from previously unexpected and not directly related aspects (provide information to the proper crowds on previously his committed corruption of one sort or another)
(c) stick some nosy reporters on the case
(d) collect all information of case and organize in great detail, top off with descriptive story, talk to every body up and down the chain of command (project, municipality, province, central), and talk to all his enemies to the left of him and then to the right of him
(e) talk to his ex-drivers, ex-secretaries, ex-enemies, new friends
(f) all of the above generates concern and aggregates and 'incentivizes' the oppositions true enemies and false friends in grand undertaking
(g) talk to the opposition: I am not going away, give me a commercial deal, and if I can help you in your time of difficulty, I will
The process takes about 12-18 months, from time of engagement to money in the bank, depending on the oppositions smarts, power, associations, weaknesses, state of commercial business, cash level, exit price, and how many bad eggs we have to clear out of our own (client's) side.
