And, my new custom Collings arrived. Just amazing. I've been playing it for about six months. I've sold all the other guitars, as this one has no equal. Seriously, after owning maybe 100 guitars, nothing can touch this new beast. Even my 54 Gibson, my 52 Martin, or my Collings Brazilian could not equal the new one.

Just arrived - and just amazing (NEW) This masterpiece was very thoughtfully considered then ordered by a member of the Collings Forum in April of 2009 - as our varnish guitars orders have been running about ten months. We worked with him to get the specs just right: 1 and 3/4" nut width, SHORT SCALE, cutaway, select GERMAN spruce top, style three features, light build, varnish, figured mahogany, Adirondack braces, select Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer. We'd love to claim some credit for it, but the folks at Collings deserve all the credit. I will try to describe this thing of perfection without drifting into hyperbole, but it is just so FREAKING good! Truly one of the ten best sounding Collings guitars we have ever heard with positively ENORMOUS dark and rich bass and a fullness of tone that cannot possibly be coming out of a this brand new, unplayed, barely 3.5 pound box of mahogany joy. Can it? Tone Rite? Don't bother! We'd like to keep this guitar here for reference when someone asks "does varnish really make a difference?"
