Cadence is eligible for the contest. GeoWorks is not because they've lost money in each of the last 6 quarters. See the contest rules in post 3023. Cadence is of special relevance in this thread, so please provide an extended description and justification if you decide to make the nomination. Avant! is also entered in the contest, so do you believe that the lawsuit will be settled? Will it have any financial effect on either company? Should we stay away from Avant! due to the possibility that they'll have to pay Cadence heaps of cash or other severe legal remedy? What kind of competition, if any, do Cadence and the other EDA companies provide to the semiconductor IP division of Phoenix? Will semiconductor IP ever become important to Cadence, Phoenix, and Mentor? If so, how long will it take? Will Cadence experience their greatest future growth from their traditional products or the emerging HW/SW co-design tools or semiconductor IP?
