Some of the calculations I've seen show
MSFT taking a 2.6 billion write-off equates to .48 per plus .01 profit equals .49 per share excluding the one time charges. Estimates were for .42 per share.
Perhaps that's why MSFT and the rest of the market is rallying - am I missing something here?

Of couse it seems at times any logic or rationale in this market isn't worth much - the very definition of manipulation is to change the rules to gain an unfair advantage to serve one's purpose.
