Sent to me in a PM regarding ABOV from someone who works in the same building.... (not an employee of ABOV!)

Mark:

The internet infrastruture consists of numerous exchanges that were established by the
internet backbone providers. The two largest exchanges in terms of traffic volume are
MAE (Metropolitan Area Exchange) East in Vienna, Virginia and MAE West in San
Jose, California.

The MAE East exchange is maintained by MCI/Worldcom and AboveNet's 20,000
square foot Co-location facility is physically located in the same building as Worldcom.
By strategically locating the Co-Location facilities at the MAEs, the advantages to
AboveNet are numerous including: 1). Lower fees paid by AboveNet; 2). Greater
bandwidth and less congestion; 3). Increased access for ISPs and content providers;
4). Very desirable and high profile locations. Where would you rather have your web
host server to maximize internet commerce, at an Exodus facility or AboveNet?

AboveNet's goal is to become a leading Global Internet Service Exchange. They are
working on several contracts in Europe and the far east (note: AboveNet's senior
executives are from Taiwan).

While I am not an employee of AboveNet, I do have regular contact with their
employees in Virginia and California.
