Mark, Part 3, Some newsletters are nice once overs for free, but are
not worth paying for. These include Will Lyon's "Short On Value" and
"The Medical Technology Letter." But neither goes into enough detail
to make them worth a lot. No, I have no intention of starting a
newsletter. I will never say never, as things can change and I hate
to be found a hypocrite. But they are not my style. First, my own
trading would be greatly restricted, and I make a real good living
trading. But newsletter writers have to put subscribers first if they
have any ethics at all. Second, it sounds like work. Third, I don't
want to have to mess with the SEC unless I have a bevy of corporate
lawyers behind me, most of whom are former SEC staffers. A contrarian
is always suspected of inside info, front running and other nefarious
things. I've been investigated a lot. No big deal when I had top
lawyers taking these goofs aside and explaining the situation. But
a real hassle if I had to spend a lot of time with the staffers
themselves. Now this isn't nasty. Some are very nice folks. But I
have yet to meet an SEC staffer who knew anything about contrary
opinion or arbitrage techniques. MB |
