Hi, Sonki:

You will remember that I said, "nobody knows what the fund mgr. is holding in his hand right now". Without a doubt he is holding many of the companies mentioned in this thread in the last few days.

There is nothing wrong with any attempt to duplicate his hand if one thinks he is on track with Energy Service operators. But the only reason to choose a fund is to cover the group without the risk of gathering individual companies which would get very expensive in even 100 sh. lots; beside trading is cheaper and faster w/funds.

But you've made a point. I have picked companies that appeared prominently in successful funds. For instance, I never bought Coke until Warren Buffet was announced having taken a huge position in it a few years ago at around $43.

I would like to toss this one up. I think the fund mgr. is thriving in the best of all worlds right now. He can start locking in year end profits early switching and putting the dough back into new good earning companies in the same sector. I would take care not to buy his fund before it declares capital gains this year unless it is done in a retirement account.
