Very good point, and one I didn't consider for the buyout side.

On the AOL trial, it was originally a GTE/ORCTF solution that AOL was trialing. Then they came up with the BEL deal. the question I have is that the BELs of the world want to be ISP also, so why would they just let AOL waltz right into that last mile? Probably because they have little infrastructure in place to deal with the NET and can get a better deal using AOL sharing the customer service.
