Joe, the tour at the Commercial Street site was just great! Saw the original Quickmaster DI which was completely designed by Presstek FOR Heidelberg. Also the original GTO-DI. All very exciting. QMDI crate #547 was all packed and ready to go. Also, I was fortunate to see quite a bit of new technology, including the Imation/Pressek proofer linked to the PEARLsetters. Most interesting to view how the Quickmaster kits are assembled and then tested as a complete unit. There were 10 complete QM kits running for a testing period of around 110 hours, prior to packaging and shipping for assembly on the press. Very impressive how precise the tool work was on the core that held the lasers to ensure a direct fit to the press, even though the press is manufactured at Heidelberg. Harry Miller, Presstek's Sales Development Manager was very patient and answered nearly all my questions. Spent a good hour touring the complete site and was amazed at how large this operation is. Lost all track of time and made my return flight with only minutes to spare. Neil
