Based on the statement above, I predict you have never worked in a manufacturing environment on a new product. Units of output can and usually do increase SIGNIFICANTLY as new products ramp up even with no increase in capacity. This is because efficiencies are realized as the process is refined and yields also improve. In addition, costs come down because of process/yield improvements and because of increased throughput (i.e. fixed costs are spread over more volume).

So am I right, have you ever worked on a manufacturing process with new products??
