I have very large aquariums with top, stand, light, heating system, etc. It seems like much less work than using a dishwasher or tub. And the looks will be fine. I will need to limit myself to light soil and/or soil alternatives and allow for drainage to a lava rock or sip tiles via weed matt. All of which I have. The only issue that I can think of is the humidity.

Years ago I visited a house that had made themselves an indoor garden in 6' - 8' home made container or some makeshift material. They had a skylight above it. It looked ok, but it really stank up the place. I suspect that lack of UV and humidity control was the issue.

And that is my concern. You only have to make the mistake few times to do big damage. Once unwanted organisms make home there, it will be almost impossible to get rid of them without destroying the whole thing. So I will need some form of monitoring system.

Now that I think about it, I am pretty sure that someone must have made a Raspberry Pie for this.
