NEC to sell PCs based on Microsoft-Intel format

TOKYO, Sept 16 (Reuter) - NEC Corp (6701.T) said on Tuesday it plans to start selling a new personal computer based on the formats of Microsoft Corp (MSFT) and Intel Corp (INTC) by the end of this year.

NEC has so far made and sold computers based on its own format. However, after years of holding the biggest share of the Japanese market, it has seen this eroded by vendors of personal computers based on the format developed by International Business Machines Corp (IBM).
