Intel Pentium 4 Has Support of Taiwan Computer Makers, CT Says By Alan Patterson Taipei, Sept. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Intel Corp., the world's No. 1 chipmaker, will see several top-ranked Taiwan computer makers introduce Pentium 4-based systems after the new processor is released at the end of next month, the Commercial Times reported, citing unnamed industry sources in Taiwan. Because the initial version of the P4 processor will work only with memory chips based on a standard from Rambus Inc., the Taiwanese computer makers expect the P4 systems to claim no more than 5 percent market share, the report said. Taiwan companies including Asustek Computer Inc. and Gigabyte Technology Co. will show computers running the P4 processor at the Comdex Fall computer show in Las Vegas in October, the report said. Taiwanese companies make over half of the world's personal computers.
