Doren,

If Apple's (usually Jobs, as we all know) intent is to force its customer base to buy a new machine every 2 years as opposed to some modest upgrade with CPU/RAM/Graphics, I think they'll be solidly mistaken. Those who buy professional desktop Powermacs expect some flexibility as they're paying for that. The competitive landscape is that the Wintel systems offer some form of functional upgrade and so should Apple. The two biggest items which tend to change dramatically over a 2 year span have been storage, processors and graphics. Not being able to upgrade the processor pretty much limits the potential of the entire machine.
