Power Efficiency Corp (OTCBB.PREF)

ANN ARBOR, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 2001--A patented electrical device developed by Power Efficiency Corp. (OTCBB:PREF) based here, is capable of extending California's electrical energy supply by 15 percent or more without building a single power plant.

The device, based partly on technology licensed from NASA, is a motor controller for alternating current motors which reduces the electricity needed to run them from 15 to as much as 40 percent. And the millions of motors in California and other states are the biggest consumers of electric energy in the country. Nation-wide, motors use 60 percent of all electrical power generated here.

So -- if the company's "Performance Controllers" were fitted to all A/C motors in the state -- and they can be, easily and economically -- the demand from this 60 percent consumer could drop a conservative 25 percent, according to Stephen Shulman, President and CEO of Power Efficiency. That means that California's power supplies overall would be extended by 15 percent, with a relatively small investment that pays for itself in a matter of months, while the savings continue for the life of the motor. The same can be said for every other state and foreign country as well, Mr. Shulman noted.

The Republic of China is considering a mandate to require these controllers on all motors there because of their energy-saving capabilities, and have already started to equip the motors in their oil fields, Mr. Shulman added.

Introduced only recently, these motor controllers are already in use at more than a hundred companies and government agencies, both here and overseas.
