US, Australia to trial dual market recognition .

Business Spectator - March 30, 2008 - businessspectator.com.au

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has announced the start of a trial between the US and Australia to mutually recognise each other's securities regulatory regimes.

The prime minister revealed the trial in an address to the American Australian Association in New York on day two of his visit to the United States.

The move, to begin at the end of the year, should make it easier for retail brokers to sell Australian stocks into the US market and vice versa.

For Australia, with its comparatively small investment market, it could mean big dividends in terms of capital coming into the country.
