Soup -

At the expense of adding more noise to the bandwidth, I have to agree with you. I don't know about the rest of us here, but I work full time, and it's getting to the point where I don't even bother to read the 30-50 new messages during my lunch hour, especially when most of these are things like lodging for the MacWorld in SF (which, correct me if I'm wrong here, but is only about 6 months off, right?) And, while watching Linda and Scott's budding romance gives us all a vouyeristic thrill, it doesn't contribute to anyone's bottom line.

I'm on SI for the investment news / tips / whatever. If I wanted help with my Mac, I'ld go to the Usenet. No offense to everyone here, but there's a much higher number of people there, and there are discussion groups specificially dedicated to helping people fix their Macs there, and I would be more likely to hit upon someone who has the same exact configuration I do. SI's purpose is for investments, not for fixing someone else's computer, however noble that is. While minor transgressions are fine with me (after all that's what the Next button is for), the ratio of information vs. noise has really tapered off lately.

Sincerely,

Hans Hohenner
