1. it makes RDRT's heads cheaper for Japanese DD makers. RDRT's CEO mentioned that they were trying to make inroads in the Japanese market
2. it makes U.S. DD makers more competitive with Japanese DD makers and RDRT currently sells more heads to U.S. DD makers.
3. it makes TDK's heads more expensive to WDC
