And in your next breath, you proceed to assign blame to the Arabs, as if, the Israelis played no hand in the current misery and suffering of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

My position all along has been that Israel has a share of the blame, just a minor share compared to Arafat and his Arab patrons. The Israelis tried to have their cake and eat it too on the West Bank, and the Arabs are using their tenuous position to try to destroy them, their continual aim.

Sometimes this appears in certain posts, sometimes it doesn't. None of us are writing lengthy expositions here.

As for "visionary leadership", imo any "new leadership" on the Palestinian side would produce new leadership on the Israeli side; but "new leadership" on the Israeli side alone would only produce more Israeli concessions rewarded with more Israel dead. Right now everyone is just waiting for Arafat to die.

Of course the Israelis "play a hand" in the current misery and suffering of the Israeli/Pal conflict; they are one party to the war. But it was not the Israeli side that chose to spurn the "peace process" and go for a "war process" instead, that was a Palestinian choice. They were begged, bribed, cajoled to stop the process over the last 20 months, but chose to continue it. Now we will see the results play out.
