Wednesday, October 31, 2001 Nickel, PGE Grades Continue to Increase at Depth -- Second Platinum-Palladium Horizon Discovered

Starfield Resources Inc. is pleased to report results for drill hole FL01-104 have now been received. Importantly, nickel, copper, platinum and palladium grades in the West Zone continue to increase at depth and a new high-grade zone has been discovered.
Significantly, the new platinum-palladium horizon has been intersected in this hole, below the massive sulphide unit. This low-sulphide section assayed 9.90 g/t palladium and 1.44 g/t platinum across 0.5 meters from 953.52-954.02 meters depth and indicates that other horizons of the newly-discovered mineralization are present.
Drill hole FL01-104 is located approximately 100 meters below hole FL01-91 (reported September 7, 2001) on Section 6300 West, and lies 500 meters east of drill hole FL01-101 which also contained a high-grade platinum-palladium horizon assaying 103.0 g/t palladium and 26.7 g/t platinum over 0.35 meters from 962.28 to 962.63 meters.
Drill hole FL01-104 contains three significant mineralized sections as summarized in the accompanying table.
Depth (meters) Length Cu Ni Co Pd Pt Pd+Pt
From-To (m) (ft) % % % g/t g/t g/t
843.6-852.44 8.84 29.2 1.24 0.94 0.093 2.27 0.30 2.57
860.9-874.1 13.2 43.5 1.38 0.41 0.056 1.40 0.25 1.65
including 845.85-850.85 5.0 16.5 1.43 1.02 0.10 2.56 0.30 2.86
953.52-954.02 0.5 1.7 - - - 9.90 1.44 11.34
Drill holes FL01-101 and 104 both contain high-grade platinum/palladium horizons and are the two deepest holes completed to date at Ferguson Lake.
Detailed re-logging of core totaling over 43,000 meters from other holes completed by Starfield at Ferguson Lake is continuing and sections similar in appearance to these newly identified platinum-palladium rich horizons are being submitted for analysis as they are discovered and sampled.
