This kind of says it all... Wall Street analysts have privately criticized Hewlett-Packard for years because of what they view as vague guidance for upcoming quarters. The majority of U.S. high-tech companies routinely give ballpark figures on sales and profit growth on quarterly conference calls, and in private discussions with analysts throughout the quarter. ``They don't know how to talk to the Street,' said analyst David Wu at ABN Amro Chicago Corp. ``If in fact the trend is to guide the (earnings estimates) down, they should issue a press release that morning, rather than if you call you find out.' dailynews.yahoo.com
