Mr. Rizzo,

There is no such thing as high end, only expensive. The high end is a graveyard. Just ask SGI. That's Jim Clark speaking, not me.

If Mac could get even a billion for Java tommorow he would do so in a split second. 2 to 3 biliion is nothing but a random number you just pulled out of the air. It is based on no factual data at all.

Sun is not even a Semiconductor company. It has a design and it duped others into manufacturing this thing. Who knows if any of them even make money on it. That SPARC clone market sure took off!

Have you ever asked yourself why SUN wanted to buy Apple. If MAC has such a great business, why on earth would he want to buy Apple. The anwser is that sunw competes for a tiny spec of the overall market and they have no visible way out. Their two prime competitors are msft and intc, both of which have made about five new highs in a row.

To answer my own question, the reason that sunw is lagging so badly is that the java halo is history. People have figured out that it is nothing more than warmed over c++, spun for the info age. Repeat after me, JAVA is a programming language. Again. People also have figured out that MAC has an EGO the size of Noorda's and look what happened to Novell. It could happen to sunw too.

MAC hates Microsoft. Fine. But this is business. And any logic says you sell Windows NT. Going forward, that is the number one question MAC will be asked. Until analysts get the right answer, sunw is lagging.

Mr. Rizzo hates investing capital in fabs. What you're missing is the return you're getting on the invested capital. And intc's is much higher than sunw. Better take another look at how well intc shareholders have done compared to sunw. Something's been flowing to intc's shareholders. I don't think Andy wants to trade places.
