"If your mom takes you to church when you're 3 or 4 days old, and continues every Sunday thereafter, how long before you become inculcated and can't think for yourself? How long before you become triple-fukt inculcated and become a sheep in the flock?"
Bruiser, that's a damn good question, the nut of the matter to me personally. When I was growing up preschool in West Texas in the fifties all the way thru H.S. in East Texas in the sixties, my parents dragged my sorry arse to Sunday School and church every week. Bless their lovely hearts, they were doing it because they thought it was the right thing for us kids. But I can distinctly remember, numerous times, listening to the preacher thinking "this is bullshit". And since I left home and went to college 40 years ago, I've only darkened the doors of a church for weddings and funerals.
So you tell me, why didn't it take? Was I born inoculated against incultations? Maybe some of us are, I don't know.
But I pity those who got brainwashed. What kind of a genius does it take to figure out that if there are more than 1 dogma being preached, somebody's dogma has to be wrong? And maybe, just maybe, so are all of them. It just blows me away.
