This is because SK continues to be engaged in illegal activities such as offering handset subsidies, excessive spending on promotions, and restricting market competition by using its powerful purchasing power,” the petition continued. KTF and LG Telecom argue that SKT’s market share rose to 53.58 at the end of July, while all rival operators have seen market share erode. The pair also finger the operator’s controversial acquisition of a large stake in leading fixed-line carrier KT Corp. as evidence that SKT is more interested in manipulating the market than in fair play. The two operators urged the ministry to strongly regulate SKT – especially its marketing and tariff activities – and commandeer excess profits. << - Eric -
