During the Clinton years we had an expanding economy, driven by technological innovation that eventually ballooned such that a large number of companies had skyrocketing stock value with literally no earnings. Clinton did very little but ride this fantasy right up to the time when people began to see reality. It is no coincidence that at that time Americans chose Bush and not Gore.
