Dear Westi: I watched the report to the UN yesterday and the news conferences thereafter. Frankly, I was disappointed. These are the things that bothered me:
1. The head of the UN inspection team seems to me to be more politically oriented (and thats being polite) then a hard nosed auditor type. Mohammed seemed better but he's not running things.
2. There seemed to be no sense of URGENCY, in fact, I got the feeling this fellow is going to use this as his RETIREMENT JOB and stretch it out as long as possible.
3. They send teams out for a few HOURS to inspect a large compound or factory, what the heck can you find in hours? I am afraid it would take days to weeks to thoroughly inspect some of those places.
4. They apparently are NOT inspecting ANY Republican Guard locations. (If you got weapons, where would they be except with the military?)

All in all, I personally have come to the conclusion that this whole thing is a big FARCE that USA got trapped into agreeing with. If we have to wait till they FIND SOMETHING we might as well send the troops home. It could be YEARS. Secondly, the more time we give Saddam to get ready the tougher its going to be for us and who knows, maybe he is CONTINUING his work on Nuclear right under the inspectors noses?
In summary, seems to me USA and anyone else interested has to make up their OWN MINDS what to do and like the NIKE ad says, JUST DO IT. If we uncover the shit world will understand, if we find nothing we are going to look very bad. So we better know DAMN WELL its there. John
