Yes, I am sure he feels great remorse, though I am not a great believer in the sincerity of remorse when it evidences itself after someone's been caught. He certainly expressed none for my loss, not even for the final 5K that I had expressly told him to salvage, and he didn't.

I blame myself for trusting someone I didn't really know, with no real track record. It was an expensive lesson, and while I try not to dwell on the past, I find I still have a lot of anger about this. I take the responsibility for a stupid investment, but that doesn't mean he isn't to be judged for a lack of character.
A person of integrity would have behaved far differently.
