While the article has interesting things to say, with which I am not unsympathetic, some of the arguments are tendentious.

For example: "But this future will never happen if patents on individual genes are allowed to remain". Clearly wrong, given the limited lifetimes of patents.

I'm sure rkrw is a little more subtle than that. :)
