14:20 ET QCOM Qualcomm: Government crackdown reportedly hurts Korean CDMA sales (34.04 -0.99) -- Update --

Hearing from sources that the Korea Times is reporting that April CDMA handset sales in Korea are expected to fall sharply from March due to a government crackdown on illegal handset subsidies. Samsung said to be predicting a decline from 1.6 mln units in March to 1.0 mln units in April. LG also said to have been quoted in the article stating that sales have virtually stopped in the past few weeks due to the government's stiff penalties against carriers. (Briefing.com has not read the Korea Times article in question)
