Aspect Development to Provide Inbound Supply Chain Management Solutions to Cooper Industries

The $3.7 Billion Diversified Manufacturing Company to Use Aspect's Full Suite of eCSM and eProcurement Solutions to Leverage Worldwide Purchasing

and Reduce Procurement Costs

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Aspect Development, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASDV) today announced that Cooper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: CBE) has purchased the company's inbound supply chain management solution, including software, services, and subscription content. Cooper Industries will be using Aspect's solutions to help it consolidate its component and materials purchasing among all of its worldwide businesses. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Cooper operates more than 90 manufacturing facilities around the world producing thousands of brand-name electrical products and power and hand tools.

Aspect Development was retained by Cooper Industries earlier this year to review Cooper's current procurement practices, with the specific intention of identifying and quantifying opportunities to reduce material costs across the entire Cooper enterprise. A team approach was used to evaluate methods for strengthening Cooper's supply chain management system. That team consisted of Cooper division and corporate personnel, combined with an experienced procurement assessment team from Aspect. The review identified several options, including the development of a focused supplier program that is expected to substantially reduce costs. The project was formally begun on September 27, 1999, and benefits may be realized as early as mid-year 2000.

"Cooper Industries is an outstanding company -- a company that is focused on making high quality products and delivering shareholder value," said Romesh Wadhwani, Aspect chairman and CEO. "We're extremely pleased to be working with Cooper to help them maximize their procurement opportunities and achieve their cost reduction goals over the coming years."
