Itronics' New Factory in Stead, Nevada to Begin Start-Up Operations

RENO, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1999--Itronics Inc. (OTC BB:ITRO) announced today that its subsidiary, Itronics Metallurgical, Inc., has obtained approval
to begin start-up operations at its new Nevada fertilizer plant, the first of its kind to be built anywhere in the world.

Itronics said that all building permits required prior to occupancy of the new plant, located in Stead, Nevada, have been obtained. The start-up of operations at the plant will be in stages to minimize the impact
on existing operations.

''Our new fertilizer plant is expected to be fully operational in time to meet early-season fertilizer sales in late January,'' said Dr. John Whitney, Itronics President & CEO.

The new factory will completely recycle used photochemicals using a proprietary process, recovering silver from them. The silver is sold in bars to silver manufacturers and as 5 ounce ''Silver Nevada Miner''
bars that are a souvenir of Nevada. The demetallized liquids are processed for use in the top-rated ''Gold'n Gro'' line of liquid fertilizer products that is environmentally friendly since virtually all the heavy
metals have been removed.

''Used photochemical receiving and silver refining operations are being moved first and the photochemical processing operations will be moved to the Stead facility next. The final step will be to move the
fertilizer manufacturing operations to the new plant,'' said Whitney. ''The full occupancy permit for Stead will be issued by the City of Reno after all equipment moved from the pilot plant location is installed at
Stead.''

''The operations management and office staff at the Stead Facility have been in place since June,'' Whitney said. ''We are all enormously pleased to have reached this important goal in our objective to solve a
major environmental problem.''

Itronics, through its subsidiary Itronics Metallurgical, Inc. is the only company in the world with the technology to completely recycle used photochemicals, by extracting the silver for commercial uses and
converting the demetallized liquids into a line of top-rated environmentally sound fertilizer products. It is estimated that 100 million gallons of liquid photowaste are generated in the U.S. every year.

Itronics Inc. is one of Nevada's leading process technology development companies and a world leader in photochemical recycling. Headquartered in Reno, Nevada, it specializes in recycling technology
development, photochemical recycling, silver refining, fertilizer manufacturing, and technical services for the mining and recycling industries.
