Thanks, Reb.
If you go back a post or two, you will see that uhmuhnum provided a link, and it was Asia Global Crossing and not GX that made the statement, if it's the same one you're referring to.
This item has interested me in recent times because of the discrepancies that exist between erstwhile reliable sources, which vary by several multiples of growth estimates. Andrew Odlyzko has stated that the traffic grwoth rate on the Internet has returned to 100% annually, while Dr. Lawrence Roberts is showing estimates of 400% annual growth. Odlyzko is an academic at this point in time, after serving on the ATT Research staff for a number of years, until recently. Roberts, whose credentials are well known from his ARPA days, now has a startup optical firm called Caspian Networks.
I've discussed the disparity of opinions with Gordon Cook, who publishes the Cook Report on Internet (http://www.cookreport.com). I suspect that he's gotten both of them to respond to each other's notes. I think that this could result in a point-and-counterpoint kind of piece that might be coming out in the report in about another month or so. It should be interesting reading, I'd think, if they follow through with it.
Thanks for the leg work, btw. I appreciate it.
