i guesstimate that i have been running both for around 3 months, give or take.
BOClean has not notified me that it has found anything.
TrojanHunter does more than just seek out trojans... it has a netstat viewer and a process viewer and a program called auto explorer. i can add custom rules and i can set up custom scans for the registry, for ports, memory or files. it has a very powerful heuristics engine that, when cranked way up, triggers on suspicious files in suspicious locations on your hd, like in the systems folder.
TH will lock on NTFS alternate data streams and it will find double extension files.
so while TH has not found any trojans either, it has turned up a lot of stuff on my pc that i wasn't too thrilled with. and it has taught me a lot about some of the avenues that are used to introduce threats into our machines.
but the real heart of your question... "has either one ever caught anything?" ... boils down to this, joe
i like having the added layers there, between me and the threats.
i deem it to be not unlike airbags in my car. i have them, i'm glad they are there. if anyone ever comes across that centerline and hits me head on, i'm gonna be real glad i have them.
but if you asked me if my airbags have ever saved my life, i'd have to say no |
