Jim - Re: Drew Peck & Intel

I believe he was on twice. I heard him at around 12:00 PM California time.

Yes, he was negative about Intel - but he made the most dramatic concession yet:

He said Intel will have a difficult time in the first half of 1998 transitioning to the Pentium II but that BY THE END OF 1998, THE PENTIUM II/SLOT I will be THE PRODUCT THAT EVERYBODY buys.

He essentially acknowledges that Intel's roadmap and the PC/CPU roadmap are one and the same.

No, he did not mention AMD nor his predictiion that AMD would hit $90 per share.

He seems to be distancing himself from AMD and their failed strategy and implementation.

One thing that I found as funny - yesterday he was quoted as saying he would attend the Microprocessor Forum in San Jose (which started today). He indicated he was a technical guy (Physics degree from MIT) and these things interested him.

However, he appeared on CNBC via a link up from BOSTON!

Very peculiar, I think!

Perhaps he felt he wouldn't be comfortable at the Forum being sandwiched between AMD whom he supported and which has "failed" and Intel which he has continually bashed, but which has "succeeded", nonetheless!
