Many of Jack Smith's subpoenas were targeting attorney Jeffrey Clark.

What was the predicate for that massive investigation? Clark was asked to speak to Trump, drafted a letter highlighting Georgia election irregularities (which were easily seen on video and in the ballot counts), and then discussed it with Trump and the Acting Attorney General. Trump decided not to move forward, and that was the end of it.

In other words, there was no legal predicate at all.
