. . . . .A call for American investors to buck up . . . .
[American Spirit would like this article. . >g<]

It is now time for us all to buck up and invest in America. Thinking only of near-term gains in the face of a possible market collapse, the subsequent economic fallout and in light of the recent crisis feels to me as . . . well. . . .selfish.

Sorry. That's how I see it this day. If those reasons aren't enough. . .and I know for some of you, they aren't . . . how about this reason: the plan of the terrorists was to bring America's financial community to its knees. They are highly intelligent. Make no mistake. They knew full well that a well-timed major blow such as this one could send the dollar plummeting and the American economy into a tailspin. There is little doubt that this was a big part of their plan. How is that for a reason for bucking up and rallying our markets?

Don't let them claim a second victory. Forgive me for saying that again, but it is extremely important in my opinion. . . . . Don't let them claim a second victory!!

This is a call to those persons of integrity. . .who will stand in the gap on behalf of America. We need to BRACE our markets and put on a show of confidence in the American way and a show of unity and pride. Bears need to cover their choke holds and bulls need to get over their fears. We need Monday and Tuesday to be enormous rallies as a collective thumbing of our nose to those who danced at the sight of our destruction.

They are still out there. They are still trying to board our airliners. They are still plotting destruction of "the head of the snake", while destroying innocent American families. A sudden and sustained rally, in my opinion, would send a message to the deepest bunkers of the Middle East, that the damage will not continue here. . . . that Americans are resilient and strong. . . .much stronger than they had estimated. . that we are aligned with our president's request for us to stand strong in the face of our enemies. . . . that we will not only rebuild and return, but that we are anxious to finance the war effort. . . . . to seek out and destroy each and every one of them. . . personally. . . as this war has already become very personal.

Our Congress in Washington is rushing to approve $40 billion for the effort. Half to the White House for immediate use as seen fit and the rest for relief efforts, beefing up our global intelligence and funding our initial response. This is not a good time for our economy to be FORCED into a recession. . . .especially not when it can be avoided by a little show of unity.

If our markets open way down and never recover, there is no question in anyone's minds that it will cause a recession. . . .as there will be numerous cutbacks, layoffs, fear and uncertainty among major corporations. The image of democracy, capitalism and all that is American will have been destroyed in the eyes of the world. . .and regardless of the actual cause, our enemies will claim the victory. . . portraying us as the wounded giant.

But if investors who have enjoyed the capitalist way of life can stop, shake it off and consider the long term effects of our investment actions on Monday and Tuesday, we could in fact defend our markets from the fallout of this horrendous terrorist act. We could protect our economy from the chain-reaction which follows a market collapse. We could display our pride and confidence. . . but perhaps most importantly, we could preserve a sense of dignity to Wall Street and the U.S. investment world at large.

Now this sounds like a lofty idea that is the sort of pipe dream that sent dotcoms into the stratosphere. I'll admit. But it is not all that hard. After all, this is America. Land of the free. . .and home of the brave. As big an effort as this sounds, it all starts and it ends with just one person. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . you.

Best wishes,

Rande Is
