I decided to get something low end to start with.

I figured that I needed at least 2mp.

So I found a new HP315 for $170 with a 32 meg card (2.1mp & a 2.5 digital zoom).

There is one problem I ran into immediately.

I am shooting some holograms like these:

The problem I have is that holograms are very sensitive to the angle you are shooting them at. Just being a degree or two off changes the color or fidelity. With my old Nikon film camera it was no problem because it was SLR but with the rangefinder on my digital camera I don't really seem to "get what I see".

Questions:
1) Are there any SLR digital cameras?

2) I would like to use some of my nikon lenses but I guess nikon will not have a digital version that uses the lenses? I assume I can get some kind of lens holder and use my close up lenses.

Thanks for the thread. I'll go lurk <g>
