Until we restore...
A neighbor, ex-marine, and developing friend wrote this. It's representative of an attitude inherent in America's founding that served us spectacularly well, but is now crushed, almost forgotten: The Anglophile’s Credo
I am an anglophile.
I expect the rule of law, the law of the land, to be applied equally and fairly to all, from the leader of the free world, to the lowliest ceorl.
I expect to enjoy and exercise my personal and constitutional liberties. To be free to speak and criticize, to assemble peaceably, to buy and sell unhindered. To be free of state coercion, able to dispose of my assets as I choose, answer due process of law and work and hire whom I please without discrimination, prejudice or interference.
I expect as a citizen, that my consensual government of laws diligently strive to govern the least possible without corporate or affluent interference. Guarantee to work for me, fully disclose activities, be completely accountable, fiscally responsible, and remove tyranny, oppression, corruption and political expediency at every turn; To hold these ideals above all others with the unshakeable commitment engendered by our founding fathers.
I expect my administrative executives and commander in chief to submit and disclose their complete histories that we may know their true origins allowing us to choose appropriately as we see fit. To be held by contract to a higher standard, fully accountable and controlled by the legislature without executive orders attempting to bypass the rule of law or the people’s popular consent. Any abusers to be promptly and automatically removed.
I expect peaceful constitutional evolution, habeas corpus, equality before the law, taxes by common consent payable in a form separate from the common currency, open markets and unrestricted press; The right to religious freedom within these ideals, free contracts and jury trials.
I expect democracy rather than theocracy, plutocracy, autocracy or kleptocracy; that all legislators be paid minimum wage and have rights and privilege the same as all citizens without any special dispensations.
I expect Magna Carta, the English and American bills of Rights, the American Constitution and other common law principles to be upheld by all and all answerable to these ideals.
I expect political term limit, the greatest virtue in public life, so that all may have the opportunity to experience the honor of leadership within my ideals and remove the tendency of career politicians to slip inexorably into the quagmire of shortsighted and inflexible political models.
I expect an even and fair tax structure with no bailouts or other taxes unapproved by common consent. The setting aside of the law in the name of convenience, or acceding to the wishes of any elitists.
I expect to bear arms as necessary yet lay them aside when unneeded; to protect, serve and defend these ideals of my freedom with a commitment that includes my life into the bargain.
I expect my home to be my castle and to be able to defend with impunity my inviolable safe haven.
I expect to uphold my religious beliefs as I see fit except where they interfere with any of my other ideals and be separated from government.
I expect production, intellectual exchange and merit to be rewarded and the removal of racism, cronyism, and favoritism the standard for all.
I expect corporations to be held to a higher standard of conduct with a corporate code of ethics and behavior. Corporations must be an example for all to see what is achievable with diligence and hard work. The unmitigated power and tremendous possibility for abuses by an oligarch requires the government to defend against and use additional controls to eliminate their ability to discriminate, abuse workers and negatively influence competition, economies, government and the environment.
I expect to honor those who sacrificed before me so that I may uphold their ideals, make them mine and share them with those whom will prosper after me; To share my ideals with my children that they may join me in our unique political and unicultural heritage.
I expect that domestic opponents of these ideals remove themselves to areas and climes that more closely match their views; but I will welcome them back without prejudice when they feel they can once again support my ideals.
I expect that should you choose to join me in my ideals, that you join me legally. That you learn my language so you may fully appreciate my ideals; That you may immerse and assimilate yourself into the cherished culture and tradition of my society; that you bring your cultural heritage and share it with me but leave behind those things that interfere with my ideals.
I expect outsiders looking in to not understand that destroying property, assassinating leadership or invading my lands will change me in any way; that my way of life is built on ideals not on things and will continue into the future with or without them.
I expect you to be angry with me for upholding my ideals but in the end, I expect you to join me in sharing my ideals since reason will convince you both of our lives will be better with them.
I expect to experience great joy at your sharing of my ideals and my greatest export, this, my language, so your fellow man may also enjoy our freedoms or reject them at his peril.
I expect to uphold these fundamental customs and values, the eternal principals of liberty, equity and justice of our common society, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.
I expect and accept these inchoate conditions of my patriotism on this my planet and in this my universe because…
I am an anglophile.
