Lets look more closely at Japan and the UK, as you suggest. Japan to this day has the world's largest pool of PRIVATE savings -- on the order of $10 trillion in US equivalent. They had a massive current account surplus. They were a global export platform with a soaring currency. Their property bubble was far, far more inflated than our own. Where is the guidance from their experience likely to inform us about our post-bubble destiny?

The UK is no doubt closer -- but ask yourself seriously, is the UK's global economic situation really akin to our own?
