From what I've read, because he was a last-minute hire and started right before Iowa and didn't have a lot of time to operate.

Is it? I don't know, I don't see it as a big deal, the press didn't cover it as such a big deal until after the primary was over and they were looking for explanations. That one was probably the most interesting, but I dunno...

Another thing to consider that would make a lot of sense that we've now forgotten is that going into the primaries, Obama and Edwards were concentrating on Iowa and Hillary was concentrating on NH. So maybe it's just a case of resources paying off.
