Barry,

Intel is a money-making machine, both AMD and Cyrix are money losing machines.

Which would you rather own ?

Of course earnings offer some securigy. Utilities, AT&T offered consitent earnings, but where are they now?

There are many small growing companies that don't necesarily make money every quarter in order for their stocks to go up. Just look at QCOM, one of the one of the that many Intel investors like. It made next to nothing for a very long time. But look at their revenue growth. Look at their intelectual property. Look how a small company can come up with a breakthrough, bring it to market, license it, sell it and eventually profit from it.
