Isn't it also better for those times you really want more hot water than what a tank can provide? Sort of. It can only serve up so much hot water, so if you are using a lot of volume at one time (two people taking a shower) then it doesn't heat to as high a temp. On the other hand it heats on demand, so you can run it forever and it stays hot (unlike a water heater that runs out). I also let the power company put in a remote-controlled limiter on my central air conditioner so that they can throttle it during periods of peak demand. Thought about that but haven't done it yet.
