Hey Bruce and GGer's,
Well, I have tried to train Mike Trigg well! : ) He sits right next to me, so we bounce a lot of ideas off of each other. He's a very talented young guy.
When I decided to cover SEBL for the Fool, it was not the most popular decision because despite how well the company has done, it was not really well known even 9 months ago. After we started covering the company, many Wall Street brokerages initiated coverage, so we were even ahead of the curve there. There is no doubt in my mind that SEBL is a Rule Maker and even a Fisher company. And, it has been (and may still very well be) attractively valued too.
Anyway, we are trying our best. If you ever read a story from Yahoo!Finance, you will know that not too many news items are posted each day with SEBL. The same is true with BVSN, ITWO and some other software companies. Yet, a LOT of people read the news these companies. So, without a ton of competition, we can own that space on Yahoo! and most people will have to click on the Fool story to get a good story, yet we are not buried with 100 other stories (like MSFT). So, our strategy is going to be to cover companies potentially in the Gorilla (software) space that don't get too much news but people like to read about.
So, if there are companies in this space you like to read about, let me know. We can usually talk to senior executives and competitors to try to make a good story that people want to read and reach a large audience.
On another note...
Some people have been debating the Foolish Four stuff.
I appreciate the criticism and praise (although praise is much better!) that we get here at TMF. I can only say that the people here give it an honest try. And, we listen to the people out there in cyberspace because they are so important to us. But, there is a human element too.
I wrote a story about ORCL yesterday and received plenty of hate mail. But, I also got an e-mail that threatened bodily harm. So, it does go over board too. Maybe people should think about that before they zip an e-mail off to a writer/analyst when the read something they don't agree with.
Happy Holidays,
John |
