the SS funds would not go bankrupt IF the Congress didn't spend the surplus. a blend would be the best option. invest current funds in the market and increase the IRA/401(k) contributions indexed to inflation. limiting the amount people can save for their own retirement has been a lousy idea from the beginning.
In fact I would simply give up the ss i have already paid in exchange for a tax-free saving account where you can contribute any amount of money that would be tax-free forever, akind to the Roth IRA, but without the $2000 limitation.

I'm an independent so I have no Political affiliation to push, but I trust Bush's ideas over Gores period. Because Gore changes policy each day after the latest poll.
