Fred: Those inside the company must have known about it - probably those
close to them also as evidenced by the gradual but persistent decline
from the summer's high price. The trigger on the China job was an Oct 1 (or
thereabouts) date for arranging financing; construction permits are required in advance.
This date passed, triggering the delay (how long, who knows, worst case is cancellation).
I'm very disappointed in the company's handling of investor related news - both positive
and negative. For example, yesterday I learned that they either closed or are about to
close on an order; they also have a decent backlog ($11 - 13Million).
I suspect the worst is over - although I do expect analysts to downward revise earnings
estimates; with their strong cash position they are very vulnerable to
a takeover; if I were Disney or Imax (10x the cap of Iwerks), I would offer a stock swap.
- say in the $8 - $10 range; the company is dirt cheap right now.
They have good products - but need additional business development savvy along with
better investment relations savvy. I also want to see insider buying. Wake up Iwerks!!
