Yet you think a lifetime obligation for a momentary indiscretion is smart?

It's got nothing to do with smart.

It comes with parenthood.

In case you hadn't noticed.

After all, if a guy has a momentary indiscretion with a woman, even just a one night stand with someone he had never met before and never will meet again, and she decides not to abort, he's on the hook for at least 18 years of child support, and it could be a lifetime of support if the child is unable to support him- or her-self.

Smart? What's that got to do with it?

And, btw, you talk about a lifetime obligation. But at least the mother HAS a lifetime. She wants to take that away from the child so it doesn't even get a chance at its lifetime.

The answer is simple. Keep your pants buttoned and your panties on. Or accept the consequences.

And in case you're worried about the consequences of lifetime indiscretions, maybe you hadn't noticed, but that's a part of lots of lives. Go out and drink, drive, and risk a lifetime in a wheelchair, or worse. Go skiing on a slope too hard for you, and risk a lifetime in a coma. In case you hadn't noticed, life works that way sometimes.

Get over it.
