Hauppauge Purchases Pinnacle PCTV Product Line from Avid

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--2009 International CES, South Hall 4 - Booth #31453: Hauppauge Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP - News), the world's leading developer and manufacturer of analog and digital TV tuner products for personal computers, has announced that it completed the purchase of the Pinnacle PCTV product line from Avid Corp on December 24, 2008.

The Pinnacle PCTV product line, consisting of 5 TV tuner products for North and South America and 12 products for Europe and Asia, will continue to operate as a separate product line under the new name of “PCTV Systems.” The PCTV product line will be operated independently from Hauppauge’s WinTV product line. With engineering and marketing based in Braunschweig, Germany, PCTV Systems will continue to develop new products for both PCs and Macs.
“PCTV has developed a strong consumer following for its excellent user interface and for the ease of installation,” said Ken Plotkin, CEO of Hauppauge Digital. “We will therefore continue to grow and enhance the PCTV Systems product line separate from our WinTV line of TV tuners for PCs. But the Hauppauge sales and marketing team will be selling both WinTV and PCTV products to retailers and distributors throughout the world.”
WinTV development will continue at the New York headquarters of Hauppauge plus at their Taiwan development center.
