Disclosure May Complicate Buffett Plans

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Legendary investor Warren Buffett (News) may no longer be able to operate as the Invisible Man.
Buffett's holding company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRKa - News; NYSE:BRKb - News), recently lost a battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (News - Websites) to keep its holdings in Automatic Data Processing Inc. (NYSE:ADP - News) secret. To securities lawyers, this is another sign that regulators are viewing his requests for confidentiality with more scrutiny than in the past.

The change in policy, which comes after two years of scandal-driven market reforms calling for more disclosure, threatens to complicate Buffett's investing strategy at a time when Berkshire is sitting on a $24.4 billion pile of cash.
