S+L debacle 300 billion plus ten years interest? At much higher interest rates than we have now? All for nothing. All for reagan style un-regulation. As Bush hero Reagan claimed when he signed the Garnes-St Germaine Act deregging S+L's, "This is a great day for America - unleashing the power of the free enterprise system". More like unleashing the pigs to the troughs of tax-payer money. And it was all centered in good old Texas. Gotta love them Texans.
